The Carolina Panthers and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Athletics Department have teamed up to give moms of local youth, middle school and high school football players the chance to learn more about football through the annual Football Mom 101 program. Created especially for football moms, the workshop takes place on a Saturday in August at Bank of America Stadium.
Football Mom 101 covers topics such as rules, equipment, safety, nutrition and sportsmanship. The program features instruction by a local high school coach and game officials and has area high school players in full-game uniforms.
The workshop is free to moms who have a child currently playing youth, middle school or high school football. The Panthers make a $500 donation to the school's athletic department or youth football program that has the most moms in attendance.
