Junior Training Camp

Carolina Panthers Junior Training Camp brings the experience of an NFL Training Camp to children in an effort to increase their interest in team sports and to inspire them to become physically fit. The free camp serves as an outdoor classroom that teaches kids football drills and essential life skills like teamwork, respect for authority, self-confidence and discipline.

Skills/Drills

The lasting educational value of the camp is two-fold. First, kids learn football fundamentals and coordination drills. Second, each camp begins and ends with a motivational talk by the camp coordinator or team representative. The speech focuses on basic health and fitness training for growing, active youth and life skills such as responsibility, goal setting, respect and teamwork.

Components

The camp features five unique stations: quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, kicking and relay race – all of which focus on game-like skills. Pop-up dummies, cones, high-knee ladders and step-over dummies present the authentic feel of a real NFL training camp.

Dimensions

The camp is designed to be set up on a football field or other flat, grass surface. At a minimum, a 60x40-yard area is required.

Involvement

The grass roots camp is designed for children ages 8 to 14. Junior Training Camp is non-contact, and the five stations operate simultaneously. The clinic can accommodate up to 200 kids and lasts two hours. Elementary and/or middle schools, youth organizations (YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs, Boy/Girl Scouts, after school programs, church/civic groups, etc.) and youth football leagues are logical fits for the camp. However, the simplicity and mobility of the camp allow it to be incorporated into virtually any controlled environment where there is space for kids to play football.

Junior Training Camp clinics are conducted from May through September. Call Pete Vacho in the Carolina Panthers Community Relations Department at 704-358-7436 for more information or click here for a Carolina Panthers Junior Training Camp application.
